Derby’s Handigolfer Greg Jackson took his first National Title at the 2019 Handigolf nationals at Tapton Park Chesterfield this May with 32 points.

He pipped Cambridgeshire’s established player and former winner Phil Meadows in 2nd place (30 pts) and Chesterfield player Terry Kirby in 3rd place (28 pts).

Terry had had a busy golf week leading up to the finals in his role as home club Men’s Captain but all players congratulated Greg (Norman ! ) Jackson on his first major win after taking up Wheelchair Golf a few years ago.

The John Byrne trophy (awarded in memory of this great leg amputee ambassador for golf) was won by Steve Crooks.

The a/b winners were Ray Ramsamooj and Carol Hayes.

Once again the host club, Tapton Park, supported the event superbly and many thanks goes to all its members and management tream who continue to show great vision in widening access to golf.
