Ever Thought of Playing Wheelchair Golf

…. in Hull?

Friends, Amigos, Amis, Amici,

We have been contacted by Greg Jackson the 2022 Handigolf Masters Champion and an old [in the nicest way] friend of Sportability to remind you about the fantastic opportunities for golfing around the country with The Handigolf Foundation.

Now they are inviting Sportability members to “Have a Go at Golf” at a series of venues around the UK

Here’s what Greg has to say…

If you think it’s impossible for a wheelchair user to play golf then think again! Not only is it possible, but golf is one of the most inclusive of all disability sports. The handicap system makes it very easy to compete and integrate with non disabled players. So it’s a great way to meet new people as well as getting into the countryside for some fresh air and exercise.

The Handigolf Foundation is a registered charity that rents out specially adapted buggies for wheelchair users to play golf.

We are waiting to welcome you to a free taster session using our specially adapted buggies. We will meet at noon for a complimentary tea/coffee before heading to the driving range where you will be shown how the buggy works and how to play shots from it. Then it will be your turn hit some balls. You will receive 1 to 1 tuition using a variety of clubs ,from irons to drivers. All clubs and balls will be provided. The only thing you need to bring is your enthusiasm and willingness to have a go. You might also want to bring some waterproof clothing if it is raining. All abilities are welcome, including complete beginners and ‘never-evers’. For those with greater balance problems, the buggy seat is fitted with a safety harness. Though you must be able to transfer onto the buggy yourself or with the help of someone you bring with you.

So, surprise yourself, give it a go and have some fun. You might be amazed by some of the shots you hit! It could open up a whole new world for you to play golf with your friends and family or even taking part in tournaments.
